Privacy policy
Take House is provided by Dave Howard. This policy describes how the app and this website handle information.
Effective October 6, 2026
Your recordings and band information
Take House opens the iCloud Drive folder you select, including its subfolders, to find and play recordings. Audio stays in iCloud Drive, where Apple manages storage, downloads, and folder sharing. Take House does not upload your recordings to a separate audio-hosting service.
Band names, song titles, recording filenames and relative locations, file information, song assignments, Main choices, and dismissed recording suggestions are stored in Apple’s CloudKit and shared with your band. Apple’s account identifiers and membership information keep bands separate and check access. The roster can show names supplied through Apple’s sharing system.
The app saves library information and folder-access permissions on your iPhone so it can reopen your library and play recordings available offline. It does not ask for your Apple Account password. Band invitations and audio-folder invitations grant separate permissions.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Take House registers a device push address through Expo and Apple. It stores that address, an identifier derived from the installation and account, and notification history with your band in CloudKit. Band members’ apps use these records to send alerts about new recordings.
Alerts sent through Expo and Apple contain the band name, the number of new recordings, and band and event identifiers. They do not contain audio, song titles, or recording filenames. Notifications may appear on your Lock Screen, depending on your iPhone settings.
Turn notifications off in iPhone Settings. When Take House next connects successfully, it clears the push address for the bands it can access. This does not erase existing notification history or the remaining registration record.
See Expo’s notification information and Apple’s privacy policy for their service practices.
App usage analytics
Take House uses PostHog to understand which features people use and improve the app. Collection starts automatically when the configured app runs. Events include app opens, screen names, and selected actions, with random installation and session identifiers, the app version, operating system, and analytics software version.
We do not send your recordings, band or song names, filenames, email address, or Apple Account identifiers to PostHog. Session replay, automatic text and tap capture, and automatic error collection are disabled. Events can be associated with the same installation; we do not attach your name or create a named profile.
Location enrichment is disabled, and the project is configured to discard client IP addresses from incoming events. PostHog still receives network requests to provide its service. See PostHog’s privacy policy for its own practices.
Take House does not use advertising SDKs or combine your activity with other companies’ apps for advertising. The website does not use PostHog.
Website and support messages
This website has no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, contact forms, or cookies set by Take House. Cloudflare hosts the website and may process ordinary request information, such as an IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect it. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for its service practices.
If you email support, Dave Howard receives your email address, message, and any attachments through iCloud Mail and uses them to respond and resolve the issue. Routine support conversations are deleted within 12 months after the issue is resolved. Information needed for an unresolved issue or legal obligation may be kept longer.
Retention and your choices
Shared recordings and library information
Your band controls its audio through iCloud Drive. Take House does not automatically expire shared library information or notification history. Removing the app from your phone does not delete the band’s audio or CloudKit records.
Band owners can manage participants through Apple’s sharing controls opened from the band invitation screen. Audio-folder access is managed separately in Files. If you want to leave a band, ask its owner to remove your band access and the folder owner to remove folder access. See Manage sharing for the steps.
Revoking access is different from deleting information and cannot recall copies another member already saved. Take House does not currently offer a complete in-app deletion of a band and all associated records. Support cannot directly access or erase another person’s private iCloud library.
Analytics
Removing the app does not send a deletion request for events already sent to PostHog. Those events remain subject to PostHog’s retention settings and terms. There is no fixed deletion deadline promised by Take House.
There is no in-app analytics switch. You can email support to request access to or deletion of information, or raise an objection to analytics. Because analytics uses random identifiers rather than your email or Apple Account, we may be unable to locate your events from your email alone. Contacting support does not automatically stop collection while you continue to use the app.
Making a request
Email support@takehouse.app and describe what you want to access, correct, or delete. For support messages, use the address you originally contacted us from where possible. We may ask for enough information to verify and locate the request, and explain what can be handled directly and what must be managed through Apple or another provider. Do not send passwords or verification codes.
Contact and changes
For privacy questions or requests, contact Dave Howard at support@takehouse.app. Changes to this policy will be posted here with an updated date.
